At Home With The Polanco’s

This at home session with Melissa, Richard, and their one year old daughter Sammy was a beautiful blend of family portraits and a quiet celebration, marking a year since they moved into their home.

Melissa and Richard have been together for nearly 12 years, and without being too biased, I’ve been rooting for them ever since I heard the serendipitous story of how they met: boy and girl seated next to each other on an unplanned flight, one returning home from her first time in the Dominican Republic, and another returning home after a much needed visit in his childhood home. Getting to photograph them in this stage of life was not only a joy, but also a full circle moment.

Sammy’s sweetness and independent spirit are a reflection of her parents, their kindness, playfulness and the love they extend to everyone around the. Their home is a true expression of who they are: warm, intentional, and filled with character. Every detail speaks to the time and care they’ve poured into creating a space that feels just right for them.

It was such a delight to witness and capture the rhythm of their everyday life, filled with playful toddler energy, shared glances, and the beautiful chaos of this season they’re in together.
